The second month of recovery after my meniscus trim was significantly better than the first month. Read all about my first month after meniscectomy surgery HERE. Compared to my ACL/meniscus surgery the year before, this recovery was definitely progressing much quicker. I continued to build strength back in my leg and work on stability. In this post, I share more about my second month of recovery after my meniscectomy.

How I Felt
This month was still frustrating for me because I was not progressing as fast as I wanted to. I was hoping to be able to get back to play during the summer league, or at the very minimum be able to train more. In reality, I was just beginning to jog and still had a ways to go with strength and even swelling. I was making quick progress but would be discouraged by how my knee would feel after exercising or even after being up and working for a few hours.
How My Knee Felt
My knee was still a bit swollen and stiff this month. As the month went on, it certainly got better. I slowly was able to do a bit more strengthening and jogging. I still was icing multiple times a day and wearing a compression sleeve when up and about, but I was able to do a lot more than the first month. To help control my pain and swelling, I alternated between working out in the gym and working out in the pool.
Major Events
- I began light jogging
- I intensified my strengthening and gym work
- At the end of this month (8 weeks post-op) I was cleared to begin the return to sport protocol and would not have to return to the surgeon.

Could you run?
I began to jog this month. I could not run for very long or very fast, I just began working into it throughout this month.
Did your knee hurt?
I still had a tiny bit of swelling the first couple weeks of this month, and my knee would get irritated if I was on it for too long.
